 Organization of classes


Pneumology B83607 - english paralel, academic year 2024/25

Internal – pneumology for students of the 5th year of General Medicine:

  • two-week block of morning classes for two study groups
  • one week are students at the Department of Pneumology Thomayer´s Hospital and the 1st Faculty of Medicine and one week at the 1st Department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, 1st Faculty of Medicine and General University Hospital
  • Groups A1( 5051 ) and A3 ( 5053 ) start classes at Thomayer´s Hospital on 30 September, 2024
  • Groups A2 ( 5052 ) and A4 (5054 ) start classes at GUH on 30 September, 2024


1. Schedule

2. Lectures

Lectures are in the form of annotated PowerPoint presentations available in MOODLE (Kurz: B83607 Internal Medicine – Pneumology (cuni.cz)

3. Practical classes

Teaching at clinical workplaces takes place according to the schedule in the form of clinical seminars and practices in inpatient and outpatient departments, bronchoscopic rooms and trainers.

4. Final Tests

Entrance and final tests for year 5 are obligatory. More information is available on the clinic's website Dept. of Pneumology- Final test - Department of Respiratory Medicine, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University
and Thomayer University Hospital (cuni.cz)

The final test covers topics that were taught in the 5th year. It consists of 35 questions. For each question, there are four possible answers to choose from and only one answer is correct. The test lasts 30 minutes and then closes automatically. To pass the test a score of 70% or more is required. If a student receives a score of less than 70% but more than 50%, the student will be given an additional question when receiving credit. With a score of 50% or less, the student will have to repeat the test at another time with another group. is not necessary for a second attempt at passing the test.

Credit can be awarded after the successful completion of the test.

Procedure for taking the test:

The student

1. registers for the test on the MOODLE UK website (please see the header of this website) - note that it is possible to register for the test at any time during the internship, but no later than one day before the test

2. in the Courses tab, searches for "Final test” or alternatively uses the link Course: Final test in pneumology (cuni.cz)

3. registers for the test based on the date of the last day of the student’s internship - note that it is not

possible to take the test without registering for it first.

5. Organization of classes in individual workplaces

Department of Pneumology the First Faculty of Medicine and Thomayer Hospital and Department of thoracic surgery the Third Faculty of Medicine and Thomayer Hospital

The in the inpatient department of the clinic, seminars in the lecture hall, and he bronchoscopic ward is located on pav. G1.

Before the start of classes, students change into PPE in the medics' cloakroom. The cloakroom is located in the basement of pavilion G1. The locker room key is available at the secretary of the department in the first floorin the same building at 8:15 a.m.. There will be divided into groups.

The students will meet before the start of the internship each day at 7.50 - 7.55 in front of the entrance to the Dept. of Anaestesiology (pav. A6 -basement -1st floor, entrance on the left side of the building under the stairs, campus GUH, U Nemocnice 2)

It is necessary to take with one: clear white coat, fonendoscope, ID card, overshoe, one-time coat!
